According to officials, at approximately 10:30 p.m., on Thursday, May 12, the Prentiss Police Department received a call stating that shots were fired on First Street near Leaf Avenue.

Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Shortly thereafter,  a second call came in stating that one subject was injured and an ambulance was needed.

Officers arrived on scene and found a 17-year-old black male lying in the caller’s yard. He had been shot multiple times.

The victim was taken to Forrest General Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The suspect(s) fled the scene upon arrival of officers.
