Funeral services were held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church for Mr. Artice Joseph “Joe Joe” Geeton, Jr., 62, who died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at G. V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center, Jackson, MS.  Rev. Raymond Geeston officiated with interment following in the Geeston Family Cemetery, Columbia, MS.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Artice Geeston was born to the late Artice Geeston and Annie Louise Jackson Geeston in Columbia, Mississippi where he accepted Christ at an early age.  He attended John J. Jefferson School in Columbia, MS.  Prior to integration, the family moved to Metuchen, New Jersey and later moved to New Brunswick, New Jersey where he attended New Brunswick School.

Mr. Geeston enlisted in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge in 1973.  He working in the construction industry prior to becoming disable.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Adolf (Sunny); two sisters, Gloria Jean and Selywenne Renee.
He is survived by: daughter, Shaylanda Brittinham and two grandsons, Quashawn and Elijah all of Gainesville, FL; brothers, Charles (Dorothy) Lucas and Rev. Dr. Raymond Geeston all of Prentiss, MS; sisters, Margie Newsome of Conyers, GA and Nanette Geeston of North Brunswick, NJ; many nieces, nephews, god brother, Frank (Jean) Long of Richmond, Va.
