Fire destroys Granby home

Holley Cochran / The Prentiss Headlight—Prentiss and Granby fire departments responded to a house fire at 162 Polk-Oatis road Monday. The call came in around 7 p.m.  When firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed. The home is owned by  Yeller Oatis.  Oatis’ daughter, who was home when the fire started, was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Davis Community Hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.  The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen.
