Fireworks will fill the sky this Fourth of July as people across our nation, and citizens here in Jefferson Davis County, come together to celebrate the birth of America and the patriotic spirit which has made our country great.

Everyone is invited to enjoy fireworks and family fun during the fourth annual Fireworks Celebration at Longleaf Trace Park in Prentiss on Monday, July 4 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Members of “Unity in the Community” are hosting this patriotic event which features entertainment, kid centered activities and a fireworks show that promises to be the best yet.

Chicken on a stick, funnel cakes, drinks and more will be available for purchase during the event.

Unity will be giving away frozen pops and watermelon while supplies last.

Local citizens who wish to show their support can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win the very first Tiny House Life Space garden shed that rolled off the assembly line at the end of May.

The shed is made of reclaimed materials including the window from the original Belhaven College in Jackson.  This garden shed retails for $3300 and was donated to Unity in the Community.

Unity will be selling chances to win the shed, with all proceeds going to Unity in the Community. Chances are $5 each or 3 for $10. See any Unity member for chances or contact Dianna Hutchinson at 601-508-0590 for more information.

Chances will be sold up to 30 minutes before the fireworks show. The lucky winner will be announced immediately prior to the beginning of the fireworks display.

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and patriotic spirit, and make this fireworks celebration part of your 4th of July holiday. Seating will be limited.

Come enjoy fellowship and fun with family, neighbors, and friends as we Americans join together to honor the country we all call home.
