Memorial services were held Friday, July 29, 2016 at Prentiss First Missionary Baptist Church for Mr. James Lavon Johnson, 63, who died Thursday, July 21.2016 at his residence. Rev. Jessie J, Holloway officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James L. Johnson was born to the late Ethel Lee and Francine Johnson in Prentiss, MS, He was baptized at Prentiss First Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Prentiss High School and later Prentiss Normal & Industrial Institute. Mr. Johnson worked in the oil industry and later in manufacturing positions for a number of years,

He is survived by: two daughters, Tina Johnson and Sequilla Logan; two stepchildren, Armon (Stephanie) Barnes and Temekia McInnis; two sisters, Barbara Donaldson and Cynthia (Charles) Barnes; two brothers, Bruce (Connie) Johnson and Willie L Johnson; six grandchildren: Kalyn, Ethan, E’Lexus, Emarius, E’Kira, E’lisa, Aliya, Cartesian, and many other relatives and friends.
