Bessie Ree Collins

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church for Mrs. Bessie Ree Watts Terrell Collins, 80, who died August 14, 2016 at Jeff Davis Community Hospital. Rev. Anderson Ted Graves officiated with interment following in the Griffith Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bessie Ree Watts Terrell Collins, the second child born to the late John C. and Peggy Gray Watts in Jefferson Davis County, Ms. She grew up in the Cedar Grove Community and joined the Mt. Zion M. B. Church at an early age. She attended Cedar Grove School and Prentiss Normal and Industrial Institute. After graduation, she moved to Chicago, Illinois and began her career.
She met and married Paul Terrell and to this union, two sons, Harvey and Donald were added to the family. Her husband preceded her in death and Mrs. Collins moved back to Prentiss, Mississippi and attended Mt. Zion M. B. Church. She started working at South Mississippi Home Health and transported people to the doctor. She retired after fifteen years. She met and married F. B. Collins and joined South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church where she was an usher, Senior Mission, and choir member.
Mrs. Collins loved and cared for her stepson, Kenneth Ray Collins as her own. She and Mr. Collins enjoyed Quartet singing and established their own Quartet Group.
She was preceded in death by: sister, Doris Jean Boyd; brother, Pertis Watts; three brothers-in-law, Willie Avant, Moses Boyd and Willie James Daggan.
She is survived by: two sons, Harvey Watts of Prentiss, MS; Donald Tucker of Moss Point, MS; two grandsons, Donald Tucker, Jr. and Timothy Tucker; one granddaughter, Yashica Watts; many great-grandchildren: two brothers, Harry Watts and Larry (Lillie) Watts both of Moss Point, MS; seven sisters, Omega Avant of Chicago, IL, Martha Daggans, Carolyn (C-Allen) Hathorn, Delois Berkhalter, Lee (Goldsmith) Price all of Prentiss, MS; Shirley (Buford) Graves of Bassfield, MS; and Mary Watts of Orlando, Florida; one aunt, Oddie Watts; godson, Bobby Hall; step-daugther, Calmetta Newsome; three step-sons, Donald Collins, Anthony Collins and Kenneth Ray Collins all of Prentiss, MS; four special friends, Francis White of Bassfield, MS, Shirley Jackson and Naomi Oatis both of Prentiss, MS and Annie Jane Sims of Silver Creek, MS; many other relatives and friends.
