On Sunday, September 25, Prentiss Baptist Church celebrated the 35 year anniversary of June Dale Harrison as church organist.

Reverend Ben James read a letter commending Harrison’s tremendous talent, work ethic and faithful service to the church.

Dr. Milfred Valentine presented gifts from the church expressing their love and appreciation.

“This is also the 35th year that Tricia Williams and I have been playing together in the church,” said Harrison.

Harrison has actually been playing in the church for 50 years.

Mary Parker Coulter taught Harrison how to play the organ 50 years ago. “Margaret Griffith would let me play on Sunday evenings in the church while I was learning to play,” she said.

Harrison left Prentiss after getting married and played a few years at First Baptist Church in Mendenhall before moving back home.

“I was born and raised in Prentiss and I love my church and I love God. I hope to continue providing music to the church for years to come.”
