Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Springhill M. B. Church for Mrs. Joyce Elaine Armstrong, 60, who died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at her residence.  Rev. Jesse Holloway officiated with interment following in the Parkman Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joyce Elaine Armstrong was born in Prentiss to the late Katie Mae Buckley and the late Hezekiah Brinson Sr. She is a graduate of Prentiss High School Class of 1974. She graduated from Geiger’s Cosmetology School in 1986.  She was a former cosmetologist and owner of Touch of Class Beauty Salon. She married her high school sweetheart in Dec. 1975, and to this union two daughters were born.

She was preceded in death by her step-father, Hollis Buckley; two brothers, Jerry Brinson and Larry Brinson; and one sister, Mary Lois Armstrong.

She is survived by four daughters; Comisha B. Armstrong of Hattiesburg, Shulanda L. (Aaron) Laird of Prentiss; Jamecia S. Tisdale of Hattiesburg, and Jessica (Anthony) Bridges-Prim; five grandchildren, Kamron Brooks, Nariyah Laird, Angel Prim, Azhya Prim and Jhaice Johnson; one aunt, Pearlie M. Oatis of Prentiss, and uncle Steve Weathersby of Chicago, Illinois; nine brothers, Melvin Buckley of Hattiesburg, Robert (Gloria) Brinson, John Brinson, Micheal (Irma) Brinson, Curtis (Delores) Brinson, Lloyd Brinson, Hezekiah (Yulanda) Brinson of Louisiana; Timothy McClendon of Prentiss, and Ricky (Maebell) of Brandson; five sisters, Rosemary Buckley, Maeola (Garry) Darty of Prentiss; Yvonne (Herman) Custard, Regina Robinson and Alveretta (Arthur) Williams; three Godchildren, Jayla Bullock, Braxton Walker and Justin Martin; best friend, Patricia Ann Wilkes of Prentiss; many other relatives and friends.
