Funeral services were held for Colleen Pitts Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at St. Paul M. B. Church, Bassfield. Burial was in the Wheeler Cemetery. Rev. Henry Kelly officiated. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Pitts, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at her residence. Mrs. Pitts was born to the late Jimmie McArthur and the late Willie Mae McArthur in Columbia.  She was married to the late James Pitts.

Preceding her in death was a son, Howard Pitts, daughter, Elizabeth McCullum and grandson, Fredrinick Barnes.

Survivors are his two sons, Mack Arthur (Laura) Pitts of Hattiesburg, and Billy Ray Barnes of Bassfield; four daughters, Peggy (Jimmie) Smith of Hattiesburg, Ola (Derick) Heidelberg of Petal, Jenny Pitts of Prentiss, and Diana (Marcus) Ward of Prentiss; son-in-law, Rev. Henry McCullum; daughter-in-law, Annie Pitts; grandchildren raised as her own, Marcus (Melinda) Pitts and Hope (Anthony) Reedy; three special great-grandchildren, Terry Barnes, Jr., Jaylan Poole and Tyler Reedy; special friend, Bennie L. Stubbs; many other relatives and friends.
