Delois Blanchard Cooper

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church for Deloise Blanchard Cooper, 70, who died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Rev. Victor Hill officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Deloise Cooper was born to the late Adam and Lucy Mae Blanchard in Prentiss. She joined South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church at an early age. She attended Progress Elementary and J. E. Johnson High School in Prentiss. After school, she moved to Chicago, Illinois. She later relocated to Saginaw, Michigan, where she joined Candlelight Baptist Church and served faithfully.
She moved back to Mississippi in the late ’80s, residing in Jackson. She joined Greater Tree of Life Church in Jackson, and was under watch care at South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church where she served faithfully until her death.
She was married to Robert Cooper. No children were born to this union, but she helped raise her nephew, Terrence Sims. She graduated from Leadership School in Tennesse in 2007. She worked various jobs including Jitney Jungle Food Store. She was employed by Mr. and Mrs. Alex Chadna, owners of Circle A Convenience Store in Jackson.
Cooper was an honorary member of the Women of Faith Ministries, Mississippi Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Idell Blanchard and her brother, Adam Blanchard Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Cooper of Jackson; mother-in-law, Aline Cooper of Terry; three godchildren, Terrance Sims, Kristin Mallett and DeShanda Campbell; stepmother, Mary L. Blanchard of Prentiss; three brothers, Levell Blanchard of Memphis, Tennessee, Charles J. Blanchard and Rev. Victor (Brenda) Hill both of Prentiss; eight sisters, Irene Parkman of Gulfport, Patricia Ann Blanchard of Jackson, Eva Lois (John) Love, Annie Sue Williams and Linda Hill all of Prentiss; Barbara Hill of Los Angeles, California; Sandra (Arthur) Brown of Magee; Lisa (Carl) Longino of Hattiesburg; three aunts; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; god sister, Sharon Ratliff of Vicksburg; many other relatives and friends.
