Funeral services for Mattie Bridges were held Friday, Dec, 16, 2016, at Saulters-Moore Chapel in Prentiss.  Burial followed in Brady Cemetery. Rev. Ken Roberts officiated.

Mrs. Bridges, 77, died Dec. 13, 2016, at the extended care facility in Prentiss.

Mrs. Bridges was born in Covington County, March 31, 1939, to Udis Brown and Mattie Lee Lofton. She was a plant worker in a poultry plant. She was member of Santee Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Daniel J. Hartfield; one brother, Otis Brown; and three sisters, Rosa Wilson, Faye Prenton and Margaret Patterson.

Survivors are her two daughters, Rhonda Smith (David) of Carson, and Monica Fite (Eric) of Foxworth;

five sons, Robert Hartfield of Hattiesburg, Fred Allen Hartfield of Poplarville, Harold Hartfield (Annette) of Poplarville, Raymon  Hartfield (Sherry) of Bogalusa, Louisiana and Alston Glen Chance of Prentiss; one sister, Shirley Wilson of Prentiss and one brother, Dewey Brown of Poplarville.

Pallbearers were Raleigh Smith, Eric Fite, Kenneth Fite, James Corn Hunt, Justin Feilder and D.J. Burges.
