Bernice Hathorn

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Bassfield Pentecostal Apostolic Church, Bassfield, for Evangelist Bernice Hathorn, 72, who died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at her residence.  Pastor Anna Keys officiated with interment following in the Reese Cemetery, Bassfield.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Evangelist Bernice Hathorn was born in Bassfield to the late Jessie and Aletha B. Keys in Bassfield. She attended Carver High School. She joined Bassfield Pentecostal Apostolic Church where she served as Evangelist, Sunday school teacher, pianist, praise worship leader, missionary choir member and prayer band leader.

She was employed at Parnell Day Care Center.

She was married to Lonnie B. Hathorn and to this union were nine children.

She was preceded in death by son, Wallace J. Keys; sisters, Mary J. Nelson, Gearlean Nelson and Juanita Nelson; brothers, Jessie Keys, Robert E. Keys, William Keys and Elijah Keys.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie B. Hathorn; sons, Lonnie Hathorn Jr., Thomas Hathorn, Charlie (Kim) Hathorn, Charles (Kriste) Hathorn, and Steven (Lyvonia) Hathorn all of Bassfield; daughters, Renee Fairman, Forest (Leroy) Green and Angela (Johnnie) Harper all of Bassfield, ; brother, Joe Keys of Kenner, Louisiana; sisters, Ruby Buckley, Geneva Thompson and Annie Graves all of Bassfield and Alice Franklin of Moss Point; 27 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
