Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Whitesand Baptist Church for Mrs. Abbie McRaney, 87, of Prentiss, . who passed away Jan. 20, 2017 at the extended care facility In Prentiss.  Interment followed at Whitesand Cemetery.

Rev. Charles Burnham officiated. Pallbearers were: Brent Daniel, Clay Smith, Alex Morgan, Will Daniel, Alton Lane and Nelson Lane. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled all arrangements.

Mrs. Abbie was born Nov. 17, 1929, in the Clem Community of Jefferson Davis County.  She was the daughter of William E. Fortenberry and Lena McInnis Fortenberry. She was a teacher’s assistant for 21 years at Prentiss High School. She also worked as a clerk in Lee Walker’s and Bills Dollar store. She was a member of Whitesand Baptist Church.

Mrs. Abbie is survived by her daughters, Diane Daniel of Oakvale, and Kathy Smith of New Hebron; her son, Eddie McRaney of Columbia; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and her brother, Charles Fortenberry of Richton, .

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald and three sisters.
