As part of School Board Appreciation Week, a reception was held prior to the monthly school board meeting honoring the Jefferson Davis County school board. Each school in the county adopted a school board member and presented them with a gift at the beginning of the meeting.

The Jefferson Davis County Teacher of the Year was awarded to Michal Reeves. Reeves is in her third year at Carver and teaches second grade. “I am honored to have been chosen by my peers,” said Reeves.

“I literally have to run her out of the school every afternoon. She works tirelessly. When you walk into her classroom, it is an environment of learning,” said Carver principal Dr. Crystal Haynes.
