Hoxie honored at banquet

Mr. Joel Hoxie of Prentiss was selected to receive the Rising Star Outstanding 4-H Volunteer Award for 2017.
The award was presented Friday, Feb. 24, during the Mississippi Volunteer Leaders awards banquet held on the Mississippi State University campus.
Mr. Hoxie co- volunteer leads a 4-H after-school gardening club for 5th and 6th grade students of J.E. Johnson Elementary.
He guides 4-H’ers in planting and growing their own home gardens leading to their entrepreneurship at our local farmers market. He leads 4-H’ers and other community organizations in the planting of long-leaf pine trees along the Longleaf Trace in Prentiss to ensure great growth toward future management and conservation. Mr. Hoxie is also a member of the 4-H Advisory Council and a member of the 4-H projects and activities panel.
