Municipal election candidates qualified

Two candidates have qualified for the Prentiss mayor position. Prentiss Mayor Charley Dumas will face Michael Caldwell in the election.

Seven candidates have qualified and will run for one of the five Prentiss alderman positions.

Current aldermen Keith Bridges, Willie Davis, Randy Stamps and Hal “Moochie” Speights all seek re-election. Also on the ballot will be Rudolph (Rudy) McNease, Levi K. McRaney and Jamie H. Cochran.

Absentee voting will begin next week at Prentiss City Hall M-F from 8-5. The week prior to the election, city hall will be open until 7 p.m. for absentee voting. It will also be open Saturday, May 27 and Saturday, June 3 from 8 a.m.—noon.

The town of Bassfield will not be required to hold an election. They have only one candidate for mayor, Pat Courtney, and five candidates for alderman. James “Jimmy” Kerley, Johnny “Ken” Roberts, Hester Easterling, William Hendry and Angela Cone “Speights” will serve on the board after the municipal elections are held in June.
