Funeral services were held Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Spring Hill M. B. Church for Mrs. Minnie Marie Burkett Shackelford, 44, who died Thursday, March 9, 2017, in Decatur, Alabama.  Rev. Roy Thompson, pastor, officiated with burial following in the Oatis Cemetery, Oakvale.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Minnie Marie Shackelford was born Mr. Guycell and Mrs. Sina Bell Burkett in Portland, Oregon.  She attended Springhill M. B. Church after moving back to Mississippi.  She moved to Alabama and was baptized at Mosiac Church.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Guycell and Minnie Burkett; Emmanuel and Annie L. Rhodes; sister, Katherine J. Otis; sister-in-law, Beverly Williams;

She is survived by: sons, Justin Burkett and Jerry Rankin both of Decatur, Alabama; daughter, Jazeil Rankin of Decatur, Alabama; father, Guycell Burkett of Meridian; mother, Sina Bell Burkett of Prentiss; four brothers, Charles Williams, David Williams and Guycell Burkett, III all of Prentiss and Ernest Williams of Brookhaven; two sisters, Annie Otis of Texas; and Tabitha Sherman of Prentiss.
