Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at South Pleasant Hill Church for Mr. Effie Stringer, 63, who died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Asbury Hospice House, Hattiesburg. Rev. Robert Collins officiated with burial following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Effie Stringer was born to the late Effie and Bessie Stringer.  He was a member of Pearl River Valley Church and worked at Jolly Ford and later Sanderson Farms. He was married to Betty Stringer.

He is survived by: wife, Betty Stringer; sons, Kelvin Stringer and Jermaine Jackson; three grandchildren; brother, S. L. Stringer; two sisters, Celia and Alice Stringer.
