Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Sweetwater C.M.E. Church for Mrs. Bernice Bass, 78, who died Saturday, June 24, 2017, at her residence.  Rev. James Paige officiated with interment following in the Booth Cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bernice Bass was the daughter of the late N. J. and Jarutha Booth.  She was a member of Sweetwater C.M.E. Church where she was a Stewardess and member of the choir.

Mrs. Bass was the Director of Pernell Day Care in Bassfield for many years.  She will always be remembered as “Aunt Bird”.  She was one of the original organizers of the Carver High School reunion.

She is survived by: son, Rodney (Andrea) Bass of Houston, Texas; daughters, Charlotte Bass of Oceanside, California, Audrey Bass of Columbia, and Tiffany Audevert of Bassfield; brother, Roosevelt (Mary) Booth of New Orleans, Louisiana; sisters, Juanity Mushatt of Alabama, Francis (Charles) Echols, Nadine (John) Thompson and sister-in-law, Frances Booth all of Bassfield; three grandchildren anf many other relatives and friends.
