Funeral services were held Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Monticello First Baptist Church in Monticello, for Mrs. Crimea Middlebrook, 94, who died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, in Houston, Texas.  Rev. Larry Lenoir Sr., pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Crimea Newman Middlebrook was born to the late Amos Newman, Sr. and Golda Wooley Newman.  She attended elementary school in Brookhaven, and Alexander High School in Brookhaven, where she was a star basketball player.  She was a member of Monticello First Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and member of Women’s Mission.  She received  certificate for “Golden Years” of service from Monticello First Baptist Church.  She was a member of Williams-Hill chapter #504 Order of Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation, Jurisdiction of Mississippi.  She served in the position as Electa. She was the oldest living member of this chapter.

She received a degree in Home Economics from Alcorn A&M College.  She taught at many schools in the area, lastly teaching at McCullough High School.

She was married to the late Aaron J. Middlebrook, two children were born to this union.

She is survived by: daughter, Barbara A. (Norris) LeBlanc of Houston, Texas and Elaine Middlebrook of Capitol Heights; two grandchildren, Alicia LeBlanc and Norris (Falesha) LeBlanc II; five great grandchildren; brother, Amos (Dorothy) Newman of Tylertown,  and sister, Mary Newman of Alta Loma, California and many other relatives and friends.
