Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bassfield for Mrs. Hilda Kirby Thompson, 85, of Meridian who died Aug. 31, 2017. Interment followed at Bassfield Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation was Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, from 10-11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bassfield.

Father Peter Kmiecik officiated. Pallbearers were: Ted Applewhite, Rodney Kirby, Ricky Davis, Scott Davis, Bobby Davis and Mark Davis

Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled all arrangements.

Mrs. Thompson was born June 9, 1932, in Bassfield. She was the daughter of James Edward Kirby and Clara Fagan Kirby. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Belinda Kerley (Danny) of Meridian; two sons, James Roland Thompson of Alameda, California and Greg Thompson (Ann) of Bassfield; one sister, Janie Lee of Bassfield; six grandchildren, Kevin Kerley, Jamie Joyner, Dominic Thompson, Joseph Thompson, David Thompson and John W. Harris; 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Webb Thomson; and three brothers and two sisters.
