Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Progress M. B. Church, Bassfield, for Mrs. Eveline Nelson, 86, who died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at Jeff Davis Community Hospital, Prentiss. Rev. Marcus Hull, pastor, officiated with burial following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Eveline Nelson was born to the late Shelby and Mollie Price Magee. She was married to the late R. D. Nelson, six children were born to this union.

She joined Progress M. B. Church and served on the Usher board until her health failed. She was employed at Collinswood for many years.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by: five daughters, Eva Sullivan of Gulfport, Rosie Mae Thompson, Jean Magee, Earnestine (Jerry) Hayes all of Bassfield, Christine (Bewayne) Ross of Prentiss; one son, Jimmie Magee of Gulfport; one sister, Hattie Barnes of Collins, MS; eight step-children; best friend, Frances Myers; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; many other relative s and friends.
