Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Bassfield Baptist Church in Bassfield for Mrs. Jan Hough, 71, of Bassfield who died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at her daughter’s residence in Bassfield. Burial followed in Bassfield Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss. A second visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bassfield Baptist Church. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Rev. Ken Roberts and Rev. Randy Gardner officiated. The pallbearers were Paul Jackson, Lance Garner, Sean McRaney, Christopher Mc Raney, Wade Jackson and Cade Jackson.
Mrs. Hough was born Aug. 11, 1946, in Newton to Calvin Vardaman Herrington and Chassie Ainsworth Herrington. She had a BA from University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and a Masters of Education from William Carey University in Hattiesburg. She was a teacher in education. She was a member of Whitesand Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Michele Jackson (Paul) of Bassfield and Kristie Garner (Lance) of Prentiss; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mollie (Haskel) Stringer of Taylorsville and one brother, Sonny (Sheila) Herrington of Bay Springs.
