Jimmie Lee Thompson

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at New Zion M. B. Church, Oakvale, for Mr. Jimmie Lee (Jim) Thompson, 60, who died Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg. Rev. Aaron Thompson officiated with burial following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jimmie Lee Thompson was born in Oakvale, to the late Henry C. and Mary Thompson. He joined New Zion M. B. Church at an early age where he was the guitarist and soloist for the choir. He was an honorary member of Mt. Pleasant M. B.  Church, Monticello. He was a 1974 graduate of Monticello High School.

Mr. Thompson was a logger for 22 years and was also a carpenter and electrician.  He was formerly married to Ann McClellan.

He was preceded in death by: sister, Suzette Thompson; brother, Willie Thompson; and son, Antonio McCoy.

He is survived by: three sons, Marcus McCoy of Columbia, South Carolina, Lawarza Easterling of Hattiesburg and Tawrean Easterling of Texas; four brothers, Archie (Shirley) Thompson of Silver Creek, Dennis Thompson and Eric (Crystal) Thompson of Oakvale, and Aaron (Vanessa) Thompson of Monticello; three sisters, Penny (Bishop) Terrell of Little Rock, Arkansas, Sherry Pittman of Oakvale, and Jeanetta (Stanley) Burrell of New Orleans, Louisiana; seven grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
