Ethel Marie Ballew

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Marie Renfroe Ballew were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Bassfield Baptist Church. Mrs. Ballew died on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, in Hattiesburg. Rev. Ken Roberts and Rev. Charles Lee Loftin officiated and burial was in the Monticello Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Roland Scroggins, Tom Jackson, Chad Viniard, James Renfroe, Mickey Robbins and Johnny Bass.  Honorary pallbearers were the Bassfield Baptist Church Men’s Brotherhood.                      

Ethel Marie Renfroe Ballew was born April 18, 1929, in Petal to John Plez Renfroe and Nettie Hamilton Renfroe. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Ballew was an active member of Bassfield Baptist Church. She served in numerous capacities at the church and was a poll-worker, as well as an avid cook and gardener. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Stanford Huston Ballew; one niece, Janice Rustin; and a brother-in-law, Jim Rustin.

Mrs. Ballew is survived two sons, Wayne Huston Ballew (Mary) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Brian Stanford Ballew of Metairie, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Apryl Ballew, Kevin Ballew, Christina Ballew, Amanda Douglas, and Matthew Heard; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Allaine Rustin, Edith Porter, and Annette Scroggins; two brothers, Rev. Fred Renfroe and Rev. Kenton Refroe; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
