Henry Louis Hooker

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Prentiss First Missionary Baptist Church for Mr. Henry Louis “Poochie” Hooker, 71, who died Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg. Rev. Ronnie Barnes, pastor, officiated with burial following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henry Hooker was born to the late Henry and Ella Ree Ward Hooker. He was educated in Jefferson Davis County school system. He was married to the late Ora Nell Solomon, one son was born to this union.  After his retirement, he started Hooker Trucking Company.     

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Williams, Jimmy Dean, Johnny Lee Hooker and Joe Hooker; and sister, Lillie Ree Dean.

He is survived by one son, Romonda Hooker; daughter, Lisa Smith; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hollis Hooker of Prentiss and Robert (Minnie Lee) Hooker of Jackson; one sister, Lillie Washington of Prentiss; four sisters-in-law, Eva (James) Edmon of Flowood, Norma Edgar of Pascagoula, Caledonia Solomon of Oakdale, Louisiana and Hazel Hooker of Prentiss; two brothers-in-law, Elbert (Thelma) Solomon of Griffin, Georgia and Charlie Williams of Magee; and many other relatives and friends.
