Black History celebration planned

Prentiss Institute alumni’s third annual Black History celebration will be Feb. 22-24.
The event will take place at the Rosenwald Building on the Prentiss Institute Campus at 292 J.E. Johnson Road in Prentiss.
On Thursday, the first day of the three-day celebration, invited guests will be the sixth-graders from J. E. Johnson and G. W. Carver Elementary Schools.
The Jackson State University MADD drama troupe will perform on Friday at 1 p.m.
Invited guests are area high school seniors. The community is also welcome to enjoy this presentation.
The Black History Expo will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Refreshments will be sold. Vendors, exhibitors, music, choirs, soloists and dancers will participate throught the day.
At noon, keynote speaker
Alvin Williams will discuss
black history of the past 200 years of Mississippi’s statehood.
The event is sponsored by the Prentiss Normal and Industrial Institute Alumni Museum committee.
