Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Rose Hill M. B. Church in Silver Creek, for Mrs. Carolyn Elaine Bridges Fortenberry, 45, who died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, in Jefferson Davis County. Rev. Jessie Bridges officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carolyn Elaine Fortenberry was born to Mrs. Dorothy Ann Lucas.  She was raised by her grandparents, the late Annie Mae and Otho Bridges.  She was a member of Rose Hill M. B. Church and later joined Word Fellowship Church. She attended Lawrence County High School and graduated from Pearl River Community College.

Mrs. Fortenberry was employed with Ellisville State School in Prentiss. She was formerly married to Wardell Fortenberry and three children were born to this union.

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy (Charles) Lucas of Prentiss; two daughters, Jasmine and Theresa Bridges; three sons, Anthony Bridges, Marcus (Santana) Bridges and Desmond (Shanika) Fortenberry; three step-children; brother, Tracy (Valerie) Bridges of Laurel; two sisters, Teresa Lucas and Samantha (CaPatrick) Mitchell of Prentiss; seven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
