Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church for Mrs. Loretta E. Davis Carney, who died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, in Spring, Texas.  Rev. Eugene Carney officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Loretta Carney was born to the late Delbert and Lillie Davis in Little Rock, Arkansas. She relocated to Berkeley, California where she met and married Willie Carney; to this union, two children were born, Audrey Carney-Chatmon and Erik Carney. She was a graduate of California State University where she earned a degree in Civil Law. She worked for Winningham, Roberts and Fama Law Firm for 24 years.

She and Mr. Carney relocated to Spring, Texas where they joined St. Paul Baptist Church where she served on the usher ministry and was founder and president of Women’s Ministry.

Mrs. Carney is survived by husband, Willie Carney; two children, Audrey Chatmon and Erik Carney; stepdaughter, Dalphna Butler; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; three brothers, Wardell Davis, Tyrone McDowell and Billy Smith; two sisters, Renita Upchurch and Carolyn Smith and many other relatives and friends.
