Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Springhill M. B. Church for Miss Ashley Gabrielle Nicole Oatis, 25, who died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, in Jefferson Davis County.

Rev. Roy Thompson officiated with interment following in the Oatis Family Cemetery in  Oakvale. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Ashley Oatis was born to Ronald and Diana Hill. She was a 2010 graduate of Prentiss High School. After high school, she attended Rust College and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.  Miss Oatis went on to further her education at Jackson State University where she received her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.

She was a member of South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church and later attended Springhill M. B. Church where her membership was forthcoming.

Miss Oatis was employed with Region 8 Mental Health Services in Lincoln County where she served as a mental health therapist.   

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Billy Hill and grandmother, Katherine Oatis.

She is survived by her son, Brelan Oatis; daughter, Lauren Gholar, mother Diana (Trey) Moody of Ruleville and Keenan Blanchard of Jackson; grandparents, Thelma Cole and Carolyn Oatis and many other relatives and friends.
