Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mendenhall for Miss Asia Simone Barber, 23, who died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Rev. Willie Barber officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Asia Barber was born to Tyrone Barber and Francis White in Collins. She was a life member of Bethlehem M. B. Church where she was a member of the choir, praise team, youth ministry and the young ladies ministry. She was an active Sunday school participant before she left for college.

She was a 2012 honor graduate of Magee High School where she participated in the choir, band and Beta Club.  She was a Mississippi Scholar and an ACT scholarship recipient.  She began her matriculation at Delta State University in Cleveland where she was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She was active in choir, band and other organizations at Delta State University.

She is survived by her mother Francis White; father, Tyrone (Eliza) Barber; two sisters, Tykia and Tamia Barber; maternal grandparents, Jewel and Wynella White; paternal grandmother, Eva M. Barber and many other relatives and friends.
