Florence Durr Williams

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Durr Williams, 82, of New Orleans, Louisiana, (formerly of Mount Olive-Point Pleasant Community) were held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Burial was in the Point Pleasant MBC Cemetery, Mount Olive. Pastor Jessie Magee Jr., and Pastor Keith Menzies officiated the services. Reeves Funeral Home, Inc. was in charges of arrangement.

Mrs. Williams died at her residence on March 13, 2018.

Honorary pallbearers were Milton P. Williams, Derrick J. Dupuy  Jr., Jimmie Williams III, Lucien J. Dolliole III, Anthony  T. Dupuy Sr., Dr. Lawrence Creswell III, and Anthony T. Dupuy Jr.

Pallbearers were Kevin May, Douglas L. Durr, Marcus Youngblood, Jimmie Williams, IV, Odell Youngblood Jr., and Benson Davenport Jr.

The flower bearers were the family.

Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Lincoln Consolidated High School in  Mount Olive and Henderson Business College in Memphis, Tennessee.

She was employed at Alcorn State University, Grambling State University and Southern University, where she retired as Director of Personnel Services. Following her retirement, she was employed at Textron Marine and Land Systems.

She was a member of Point Pleasant MB Church, Mount Olive, Galatia Missionary Baptist Church and Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated and faithful member at all the churches she served.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Hugh Durr and Pearlie Mae Smith Durr; her son, Everett DeWayne Durr; two siblings; three brothers, King Solomon Durr, North Carolina, Willie Durr Jr., Indiana, and Buford “Jack” Durr, Sr., Louisiana, Odell Youngblood Sr., Texas (brother-in-law) and three nieces.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela M. Williams Dupuy; grandchildren, Derrick Joseph Dupuy Jr., and Madison Laci Dupuy; her sisters, Lillie R. Durr (Ernest) May,  Jackson, Bobbie Durr ( late Odell) Youngblood, Desoto, Texas, Alice Durr (Jimmy III) Williams, Bassfield, Dororthy “Dot” Durr Gallot,  New Orleans, Louisiana, and Gwendolyn Durr (Lloyd) Bristo, Vining Georgia; her aunt Arlena Durr McNair, Erie, Pennsylvania; sister-in-laws, Lillian Daniels Durr, Jacksonville, North Carolina, Gloria Cooper Durr, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Betty Durr, Franklinton, Louisiana along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Also, her church grandson, Benson Davenport Jr. and church daughter, Mary Winfield Carmouche.

Betty Robbins Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Robbins were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Society Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Young officiating. Interment followed in the Society Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Robbins, age 75, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Saturday morning, July 13, 2024, at the Forrest General Hospital. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. The Robbins family received friends one hour before the funeral service, beginning at noon, Tuesday, at Society Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers included Kelley LeNormand, Cymantha Shellenberger, Mason Robbins, Jenna Robbins, Frank Vice and Frank Vice Jr. Betty Robbins was born on June 6, 1949, in Magee, Mississippi to Walter R. and Margaret Jones Bishop. Mrs. Robbins was a long-time resident of Carson. She and her husband would go on to raise a happy family of six children that would multiply over the years with the addition of in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robbins loved the country life and will be remembered for not only growing a yard full of beautiful flowers, but also a vegetable garden of which she fed her family. An animal lover, she also had dogs, chickens and hogs over the years. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter R. and Margaret Bishop, her husband, Kenneth Terrell Robbins Sr; her daughter, Pamela Robbins; sisters, Patsy Holden, Margaret  Coble, Linda Hester and her brother, Richard Bishop. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Billie Jo Williamson of Prentiss; sons, Kenny Robbins Jr. (Kathy) of Carson, Mikell Robbins (Kelley) of Palestine, Texas, John Robbins (Nicole) of Sumrall, Daniel Robbins, (Tanya) of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Ray Bishop (Nancy) of Magee and her sister, Myrtis Craig (Ed) of Rossville, Georgia. Mrs. Robbins also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
