Funeral services were held Saturday, March 31, 2018, at North Silver Creek M. B. Church, New Hebron, for Mrs. Gwendolyn Faye Newsome, 60, who died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at her residence. Rev. Jerry Rogers, pastor, officiated with burial following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gwendolyn Newsome was born to the late Onnett and Minnie Daniels in Prentiss. She joined North Silver Creek M. B. Church at an early age and remained an active member until her health failed. She was married to Mr. Roger Newsome.

She was preceded in death by sister, Annette Rushing; two brothers, Freddie Newsome and Stanley Daniels.

She is survived by: husband, Roger Newsome of New Hebron; one son, Michael Daniels; one daughter, Shawana Newsome both of Prentiss; two grandchildren, Mikilia Daniels of Magee and Tyvonte’ Newsome of Prentiss; three children she raised as her own, Brandon (Betty) Rushing of Mt. Olive; Tawanzia and Precious Rushing both of Prentiss; six sisters, Peggy Joseph, Kathy (Lawrence) Fortenberry, Mamie Nelson, Evelyn Newsome and Evonne Hicks all of Prentiss and Phyllis (Willie Earl) Williams of D’Lo; one brother, Bruce (Argie) Daniels and many other relatives and friends.
