Ruby Daniel

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Daniel, 92, were Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Saulters Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Ruby Stephens Daniel was born April 25, 1925, in Melba. She passed away on March 27, 2018. Her parents were John Oliver Stephens and Pent Robbins Stephens. She was the middle child of eleven brothers and sisters. A graduate of Jones County Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi, Ruby was a teacher for over twenty-five years, touching the lives of children at Silver Creek Elementary, Prentiss Elementary and Prentiss Christian School.

The Order of the Eastern Star was a very important part of her life. She served in various local chapter and state offices. She was elected Worthy Grand Matron for the State of Mississippi for 1981-1982. She was currently a member of the Brookhaven chapter and continued to participate in chapter activities as much as possible.

She was a long-time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.  During her years there she served on a variety of committees, led the music, and was a past Sunday school teacher.

She had recently moved to Covington Ridge Retirement Home in Collins where she enjoyed making new friends and participating in the many activities. She especially enjoyed gathering around the piano and singing with the other residents.

Ruby is survived by her children: Lynne Daniel Maskew (Bobby), Bonnie Daniel, James Daniel (Ann), and Susan Daniel Reid; her grandchildren: Baxter Lee (Christina); Cynthia Loper; Cheryl Moats; Lucy Daughdrill; Holly Spivey (Scott); Phillip Daniel; Stephens Daniel (Shelly); Mathew Reid (Jenny); Julie McRaney (Jake); and Andrew Reid; her great-grandchildren: Chase Freeman, Casey Lee, Danny Lee, Justin Mishlan, Joseph Mishlan, Miles Harper, Lisa Loper,  Melissa Moats, Austin Moats, Lexi Miller, Riley Spivey, William Spivey, Harrison Daniel; Kameron Weeks; Mills Daniel, Molly Daniel, Caroline Daniel, Parker Reid, and Harper McRaney. She is also survived by her sister, Gay Bennett (Howard) and brothers Ray Stephens (Linda), Paul Stephens, and Troy Stephens (Ouida); as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 years James W. Daniel and husband of 15 years Floyd E Broome; granddaughter Lisa Lee, son-in-law Craig Reid; sisters Cara Jones, Thora Birnley, Sue Taylor, Dotty Ladner,  Joy Howell and brother Everett Stephens.

Pallbearers were Baxter Harold Lee, James Phillip Daniel, Stephens Paul Daniel, Matthew Craig Reid, Andrew William Reid, Scott Franklin Spivey, and Ronald Jacob McRaney.

Betty Robbins Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Robbins were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Society Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Young officiating. Interment followed in the Society Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Robbins, age 75, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Saturday morning, July 13, 2024, at the Forrest General Hospital. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. The Robbins family received friends one hour before the funeral service, beginning at noon, Tuesday, at Society Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers included Kelley LeNormand, Cymantha Shellenberger, Mason Robbins, Jenna Robbins, Frank Vice and Frank Vice Jr. Betty Robbins was born on June 6, 1949, in Magee, Mississippi to Walter R. and Margaret Jones Bishop. Mrs. Robbins was a long-time resident of Carson. She and her husband would go on to raise a happy family of six children that would multiply over the years with the addition of in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robbins loved the country life and will be remembered for not only growing a yard full of beautiful flowers, but also a vegetable garden of which she fed her family. An animal lover, she also had dogs, chickens and hogs over the years. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter R. and Margaret Bishop, her husband, Kenneth Terrell Robbins Sr; her daughter, Pamela Robbins; sisters, Patsy Holden, Margaret  Coble, Linda Hester and her brother, Richard Bishop. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Billie Jo Williamson of Prentiss; sons, Kenny Robbins Jr. (Kathy) of Carson, Mikell Robbins (Kelley) of Palestine, Texas, John Robbins (Nicole) of Sumrall, Daniel Robbins, (Tanya) of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Ray Bishop (Nancy) of Magee and her sister, Myrtis Craig (Ed) of Rossville, Georgia. Mrs. Robbins also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
