Funeral services were held Aug. 4, 2018, at Prentiss First Baptist Church for Mr. Oliver Brown, 62, who died July 25, 2018, at Jeff Davis Extended Care Facility in Prentiss. Rev. Ronald Barnes officiated with burial following in the church cemetery.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrange- ments.

Mr. Oliver Brown was born in Jefferson Davis County to the late Willie and Rachel Fox Brown. He attended J. E. Johnson School, Prentiss High School and Prentiss Institute. He joined Prentiss First Baptist Church and served on the Finance committee and was a member of the choir. He devoted his time to at- tending Sunday school and Bible Study.

He worked at the Department of Human Services for five years as a Commodity Clerk and 12 years as a Clerical Clerk until his health declined. He was a member of Holy Inspirational Mass Choir.

He was preceded in death by: three brothers,

James L. Brown, Robert L. Brown and Jimmie Brown.

He is survived by: two sisters, Esadora Ball and Eddie Brown both of Prentiss; three brothers, John (Jean) Brown of Bassfield, Willie Brown Jr. and Daniel Brown both of Prentiss; many other relatives and friends; one godson, Ja’Marion Poole of Prentiss; and special friend, Ida Mae Poole.
