Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at North Pleasant Hill M. B. Church, New Hebron, Mississippi for Mr. Vander LaPatrick Morris, 41, who died Sat- urday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Lawrence County Hospi- tal, Monticello.

Rev. Moses Johnson of- ficiating with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funer- al Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vander L. Mor- ris was born to Kenith Dampier and Detra Mor- ris Fortenberry. He was a member of North Pleas- ant Hill M. B. Church and was a Mason.

He graduated from Law- rence County High School in 1993 and attended Co- piah Lincoln Community College. He had a career in offshore drilling before his illness.

Mr. Morris loved at- tending events at the race- track and fellowship with family and friends. He married his high school sweetheart, Dr. Lawanda McDuffery-Morris, who preceded him in death; to this union, one child was born, Jordyne Nicole Morris.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clention and Shellie Mor- ris and Clarence Dampier.

Mr. Morris is survived by daughters, Jordyne Morris of Hattiesburg; Kierra (William) Wade of Hazlehurst; mother, Detra (Frederick) Fortenberry of New Hebron; father Ken- ith (Mary) Dampier of Jackson; maternal grand- mother, Iola Armstrong

of New Hebron; brothers, Frederick Fortenberry of Newport News, Virginia, Tony Fortenberry of New Hebron, Carlos Adams of North Carolina, Eric (Yo- landa) Dampier of Jackson and Patrick Drummond of Terry; sister, Latonya Fortenberry of New He- bron; Monique Duckwoth of Mt. Olive, Sanqierra Dampier of Jackson and Kierra Dampier of Dallas, Texas and three grand- children; mother and father-in-law, Philemon and Gayness McDuffey; special friend, Tammie McGowan and many oth- er relatives and friends.
