Dennis Myres Turner

Funeral services were held Jan. 5, 2019, at John the Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia for Mr. Dennis Wayne Myres Turner, 61, who died Dec. 30, 2018, at Ocean Springs Hospital in Ocean Springs. Rev. Aaron Thompson officiated with burial following in Resthaven Cemetery, Columbia. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dennis Turner was born to the late Matta (Map) and Elnora Turner in Oakvale.

He accepted Christ at a young age. He attended Job Corps in Bristol, Tennessee where he received a degree in welding. He was also a member of the National Guard.

He was a welder for Weeks Marine, Inc. He loved driving trucks and owned his own. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan.

He was preceded in death by: brothers, Ronald and Larry; granddaughter, Kamirah Myres and nephew, Terris Turner.

He is survived by: wife, Lynette Myres; five children, Kendrick (Shekeri) Uptown of Georgetown, Shalisa (Terriyoun) Browhhow of Mesquite, Texas, Shadon Myres of Gulfport and Shaquetta Myres of Dallas, Texas; Diyawn McClendon of Scranton, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Jackie Turner, Lee (Jocelyn) Turner of Oakvale, and Carl (Aiysha) Turner of Mobile, Alabama; five sisters, Versie J. Taylor of New Orleans, Louisiana, Jo Thompson of Valparaiso, Indiana, Ann Williams of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Donna Myres of Gulfport; and Sara Baylis of Harriman, Tennessee; two goddaughters, Kashinda Joseph and De’Liyah Turner; many other relatives and friends.
