Funeral services were held Jan. 5, 2019, at Short Chapel C.M.E. Church in Bassfield for Mrs. Sarah Nell Herring Adams, 71, who died Dec. 29, 2018, at Merit Health in Natchez. Rev. Dana Turner officiated with burial following in Wheeler Cemetery, Bassfield. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sarah Adams was born in Prentiss to the late Albert and Mae Etta Thompson. She attended Carver High School in Bassfield and continued her education at Prentiss Institute.

She joined Holly Springs C.M.E. Church where she was an active member of the Stewardess Board and served as Stewardess president for 23 years.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by: husband, Willie Lee Adams; two sisters, Carrie M. Loftin and Mary H. Loftin; four brothers, Robert Allen, Charles Ralph, Lee Gusta and Earnest Lee Thompson; and one grandson, Christopher Hall.

She is survived by: three sons, Shawn (Felicia) of Vidalia, Louisiana; Robert (Tracey) of Hattiesburg, Ricardo (LaToya) of Hattiesburg; three daughters, Jackie (Randolph) of Hattiesburg, Shonda (Roger) of Hattiesburg,  and Santanna (Alanto) of Hattiesburg; one sister, Mary Nell Myers; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
