Funeral services were held Jan. 7, 2019, at Holly Springs C.M.E.
Church in Bassfield, for Mrs. Mae Francis Hawkins, 87, who died Dec.
24, 2018, in Chicago, Illinois.  Burial followed in the Wheeler
Cemetery in Bassfield.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs. Mae Hawkins was born to the late Mary and Clinton Cook, Sr. She
moved to Chicago at a young age where she attended elementary, high
school and college.  She began her employment with Western Electric, a
division of AT&T and stayed there for 29 years. Mrs. Hawkins met and
married the late Henry Hawkins. They raised five children together,
three of whom were their grandchildren.
She and her husband moved back to Mississippi and united with Holly
Springs CME Church.
She was preceded in death by three children Suzanne Durr, Marilyn Cook
Wilson and Arlene Cobbs; three grandchildren and eight siblings.
She is survived by: two daughters, Consuella (Renold) Brown and Reeda
Hawkins; two siblings, Marie Cobbs and Edward (Sandra) Cobbs; 18
grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren;
many other relatives and friends.
