Funeral services for Mrs. Gracie Broome were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 27,
2019, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Columbia. Mrs. Broome, 86, died
Jan. 25, 2019, at Marion General Hospital.
Rev. Dewitt Bain and Rev. Ed Steele officiated. Burial was in the
Lowland Cemetery.
Saulters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Johnathan Williams, Jerrett Williams, Hal Bell, Carl
Williams, Tom Williams and James Boleware.
Gracie Broome was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Marion County, to Johnie
Williams and Azzie Broome Williams.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Giliad Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Glyn
Williams. Mrs. Broome is survived by her husband of 63 years H.D.
Broom; and her son, Darrell Broome (Sara) both of Bassfield; three
brothers, Hubert Williams (Helen) of Petal, Shelton Williams (Sue) of
Castro Valley, California and J.C. Williams (Janice) of Ellisville;
her sister, Lizzie Greer (J.V.) of Columbia; two grandchildren, Joshua
Broome and Drew Broome.
Visitation was Jan. 26, 2019, 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Saulters Funeral Home.
