Graveside services for Mrs. Hazel Turnage were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 18,
2019, at Oakvale Cemetery in Covington County. Mrs. Turnage, 90, died
Feb. 14, 2019, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Rev. Rob Webb
officiated. Saulters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Hazel Turnage was born Jan. 8, 1929, in Jones County to Ethel Turnage
and Myrtis Brinson Turnage. She was a graduate of Lone Star High
School, Jones County Junior College and University of Southern
Mississippi.
She held a B. S. and Master’s Degree from USM and taught 32-1/2 years
at Prentiss Elementary School as a 2nd grade teacher.  She was an avid
gardener and quilter.  She was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Myrtis Turnage;
and a brother.
Mrs. Turnage is survived by one brother, Willie Bert (Joyce) Turnage
of Ocean Springs; one niece, Sandi (Jimmy) Smith of Petal and two
great nieces, Meagan and Lauren Smith of Petal.
