Ina Mae Longino Walker

Funeral services were held Feb. 2, 2019, at North Pleasant Hill M. B.
Church in New Hebron for Mrs. Ina Mae Longino Walker, 81, who died
Jan. 27, 2019, at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello. Rev. Moses
Johnson officiated with burial following in the church cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ina Mae Walker was born to the late John and Lena Dixon Longino.
She joined Springhill M. B. Church at an early age.  She went to
school at Cole in the Grange Community and she later attended McCullum
and finished at Prentiss Institute.
Mrs. Walker loved to play basketball and run track; she was recognized
for all-state basketball and all-state track runner in 1955 and was
offered a scholarship to Tennessee State.
She met and married L. J. Walker Jr. and later three children were
born.  She became a member of the North Pleasant Hill M. B. Church
where she worked with the Mission Department, Sunday school teacher,
and participated in the choir. She worked at Magnetek for 31 years and
enjoyed retirement.
She is survived by: three children, Delanis (Lynell) and Virginia
(Robert) all of New Hebron; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, Alicia,
Candice, Jada all of New Hebron; Chelsea, Shelby and Brittany all of
Jackson; daughter-in-law, Tara of Jackson; four great-grandchildren;
one sister, Mary L. Everett of Prentiss; many other relatives and
friends.
