Funeral services were held March 9, 2019, at St. Paul M. B. Church in
Bassfield for Mr. Booker Thomas Harper, 76, who died Feb. 27, 2019, at
Jeff Davis Extended Care Facility in Prentiss.
Rev. Henry Kelly, pastor, officiated with burial following in the Owen
Griffith Cemetery in Bassfield.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Mr. Booker T. Harper was born to the late James Thomas Harper and the
late Lillie Bell Thompson.
He joined Progress M. B. Church at an early age and remained until his
health failed.  He worked many jobs and loved fishing, hunting and
working on cars.
He was preceded in death by: Edward G. Harper.
He is survived by: nine children, Betty (Melvin) Fairman, Ricky
Griffith, Lisa (Gregory) Manning, Shaunda (Gromeko) Booth, Denise
Harper and Akena Reese all of Bassfield; Carla (Richard) Collier of
Birmingham, Alabama; Annette (Johnny) Hathorn of Columbia; Gary Price
of Laurel; two sisters, Emma Jean Smith of Bassfield, and Jeanette
Baker of Beaumont, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren;
two close friends, Herd Saucier and Eddie Magee and many other
relatives and friends.
