Funeral services were held March 16, 2019, at Silver Creek M. B.
Church in New Hebron for Mrs. Melzenia Walker, 96, who died March 9,
2019, at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss.
Rev. Jerry Rogers, pastor, officiated with burial following in the
church cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Melzenia Walker was born to the late James and Etta Weathersby.
She was married to the late Johnny Walker and to this union 14
children were born.
Mrs. Walker was a member of Silver Creek M. B. Church where she
enjoyed singing her favorite song, “Sending Up My Timbers.”
She was preceded in death by five children, Melvin Walker, Robert
Walker, Charles Walker, Johnnie Mae Walker and Bobbie Walker.
Mrs. Walker is survived by  children, Herbert Walker, Edna Walker,
William (Annie) Walker, James (Pamela) Walker, Patricia (Bryant)
Edwards, Janetta Walker, all of St. Louis, Missouri; Cheryl Walker of
Atlanta, Georgia; Gregory (TaSheena) Walker of Virginia; Regina
(Alfred) Magee and Joseph Walker both of Prentiss; 60 grandchildren;
special friends, Nathaniel Hartzog, Antoinette “Nanny” Walker,
Loretta, Antoinette (Tony) Walker; Larry Christian; and special thanks
to Christine Gardner.
