Carson gym, skating rink destroyed by fire

- Granby Volunteer Fire Department / The Prentiss Headlight— Firefighters from Granby, Prentiss, 84 West and Bassfield worked to extinguish the fully engulfed blaze at the old Carson High School gym early Sunday morning. The structure was built in 1912, and was used as a gym for Carson High School until it closed in the late 50s. Shortly therafter, it became Carson Skating Rink where it entertained the kids in Jefferson Davis County for decades. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
