Archie Calhoun Griffith

Funeral services were held April 10, 2019, at Harmony M. B. Church in
Mt. Olive for Mr. Archie Calhoun Griffith, 58, who died March 31,
2019, at his residence.
Rev. Demetrius Pittman, pastor, officiated with burial following in
the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Mr. Archie Griffith was born to the late Elizabeth and Walter Griffith
Sr. in Magee. He attended grammar school at Lincoln Attendance Center
in Mt. Olive; later he moved to Purvis and graduated from Purvis High
School. He joined the National Guard after high school and attended
Pearl River Jr. College receiving a degree in welding. He worked at
Ingalls Shipyard and Georgia Pacific for many years.
He was preceded in death by: two brothers, Walter Griffith Jr. and
Billy Griffith; three sisters, Lela M. Ward, Vickie Payton and
Virginia White.
He is survived by: daughter, Arcayla (Everick) Griffith;
granddaughters, Layla and La’Deja all of Columbia, South Carolina;
siblings, John W. Griffith, Jeneava Phillips and Mary Young of Purvis;
Annie Wells of Pasadena, California; Stella Griffith of Hattiesburg,
Louvella Haynes of Taylorsville; Wynella (Jewel) White and Harolyn
Brown of Prentiss; and many other relatives and friends.
