Funeral services for Mr. Fred Marshall Evans were held at 1 p.m. April
11, 2019, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Magee. Mr. Evans, 83, died
April 7, 2019, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Dr. Mims Roberts officiated and burial was in the Mt. Zion Baptist
Church Cemetery.
Saulters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Matt Hotard, Sawyer Smith, Tyler Thompson, Kyle
Leonard, Bret Leonard and Jon Tucker Evans.
Fred Marshall Evans was born on Feb. 23, 1936, in Jefferson Davis
County to Dannie Wayne Evans and Lena Ashcroft Evans. After proudly
serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, he became a planner in the
wood industry for International paper and retired from Georgia
Pacific. He attended First Baptist Church in Richland.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his first wife,
Nell H. Evans; two brothers, Granville Evans and James Lewis Evans.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Nyonia R. Evans of Richland; one
daughter, Teresa Dunn (Kevin) of Kenner, Louisiana; one son, Fred
Michael Evans (Karen) of Madison; three grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth
Hotard, Mary Michael Evans and Jonathan Tucker Evans; two
great-grandchildren, Merritt Hotard and Madelyn Hotard; three
step-children, Tammy Thompson (Viktor) of Brookhaven, Sherry Leonard
of Anna, Texas and Mark Roberts (Kellie) of Florence; six
step-grandchildren, Tyler Thompson, Kori Smith, Jennifer Roberts,
Amanda Roberts, Kyle Leonard and Bret Leonard; four step-great-
grandchildren, Mattie Thompson, Macie Thompson, Merritt Thompson and
Hannah Smith.
Visitation was April 10, 2019, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Saulters
Funeral Home.
