Members of the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department, Prentiss
Police Department, JDC supervisors and justice court judges gathered
for a moment of prayer last week during Law Enforcement Memorial Week.
Especially remembered were Officer Ron Jones of the Prentiss Police
Department, and deputies Tommy Bourne and J.P. Rutland of the
Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department who lost their lives in
the line of duty. “Our community is one of may that has been affected
by the loss of people we hold dear in the law enforcement community,”
said Prentiss Mayor Charley Dumas. “We will never forget their
sacrifice and pray constantly for those dedicated to upholding the law
in Prentiss and Jefferson Davis County.”
