Absentee voting begins June 24

Absentee voting for the upcoming Jefferson Davis County primary
election will begin June 24.
Voters can cast their ballot at the Jefferson Davis County Circuit
Clerk’s office Monday through Friday 8 a.m.to 5 p.m.
The last day to register to vote prior to the election is July 6 by noon.
In addition to the weekly hours, the office will be open the two
Saturdays before the election, July 27 and Aug. 3, from 8 a.m. to
noon.
Mail-out ballots must be postmarked by August 5.
The primary election will be Aug. 6, and the general election is Nov. 5.
Those qualifying for Jefferson Davis County Sheriff are Ron
Strickland, Duane Dampier, Ricky Johnson, Allen Allday, Chad Breazeale
and Henry McCullum (I).
JDC Circuit Clerk Clint Langley, Chancery Clerk Charlene Fairley and
Tax Assessor/Collector Kelley Ross-Brown are all unopposed.
John Wayne Tolar and Dedra Johnson have qualified for JDC Coroner.
Michael Davis is unopposed in the Constable Post 1 race. Post 2
candidates are Johnnie Easterling, Harold Rhodes and Earnest Rankin.
For Justice Court Judge, Ronnie Barnes, Ricky Barrett and Jurtyne
Reimonez Youngblood have qualified for Post 1; Vernon Dampier, Calvin
Graves and Chris Griffith for Post 2.
In the JDC Supervisors’ race, District 1 Corky Holliman is unopposed..
District 2 candidates are Charles Reid, Joe Kerley, Dewayne Gholar and
Derek Hall.
District 3 candidates are Alvin Arnold, Coleman Price, Joseph Mauldin,
Virgil Norris, Demario Booth, John W. Holloway, Johnnie R. Myers (I)
and Leon Speights.
District 4 candidates are Bobby Payne, Michael Evans, Troy Buckley,
Terry Mathis and Sedrick Washington.
District 5 candidates are Bobby Rushing, Willie D. Williams and David Moses.
