Funeral services were held June 15, 2019, at Progress M. B. Church in
Bassfield, for Miss Jeanette Thompson, 70, who died June 6, 2019, at
Jefferson Davis Community Hospital.  Rev. Emmanuel Thompson officiated
with burial following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements.
Miss Jeanette Thompson was born to the late Carrie Mae Thompson and
Turner Reese. She was a graduate of Carver High School and lived her
early life in Chicago, Illinois.  She later relocated to Bassfield
where she worked at Coulter’s Cleaners and later retired from
Hattiesburg Health and Rehab.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Latoyia Chiffon Smith;
granddaughter, Ivory Smith; and son-in-law, Carlos Smith.
She is survived by: one daughter, Carrie (Malcolm) Fornerette; one
son, Christopher Thompson of Columbia, South Carolina; seven
grandchildren; two sisters, Cindy Thompson and Betty Womack; six
brothers, Robert Graves, Ralph Thompson, Jeffrey Thompson, Duane
Thompson all of Bassfield; Charles (Sharon) Thompson of Chicago,
llinois and Herbert (Archie) Reese of Prentiss; special friend, Lonnie
